I made a career pivot into the SaaS industry so I can begin my programming journey. I ended up enrolling in the Full-Stack Engineer Path through Codecademy. I also tried to utilize my resources at work to get a mentor.
I had a meeting with my mentor and they had reviewed the syllabus and let me know that our company doesn't use React or Redux. They use Ruby/Ruby on Rails. The bootcamp doesn't cover it, but it does cover it individually.
I decided to stop the Full-Stack Path to begin learning Ruby and then Ruby on Rails in hopes that I can work alongside my mentor (they want to start helping me work on bugs and stuff so I can grow with the company)
I have full intention of completing the full-stack engineer path, but want to focus on Ruby/Ruby on Rails so I can be an asset and hopefully break into a role at my current job.
Was this a smart move? I am just crowdsourcing advice since my gut is telling me I made the right move.

I think given that your current company uses Rails/RoR, and you have an easy "in" to start building apps in that stack, it makes sense to pivot that direction. You can still do full-stack development with that stack.
It's a really great stack to build expertise in.
Thank you so much for your input! The more I am learning about Ruby, I really think that this is a decent path for me!
Thank you so much for the reassurance on this! This is the thought I had with as well.
UPDATE: So I did some more research and am now doing The Odin Project as my bootcamp so that I can use more open source!
