How Developers can learn from the mistakes of Cyberpunk 2077

By now I am sure that everyone has heard about the disastrous launch for the game Cyberpunk 2077. It was the most highly anticipated game of 2020 a...

"It is clear that they tried to do too many new things at once and got in way over their head."

THIS. Great post, Andrew.

Cyberpunk2077 is almost like a modern morality tale about how biting off more than you can chew can be disastrous — not just for the game but for the devs building it. 😔

I think you might find this episode of DevNews interesting. There's a really great interview in the ep with a prominent gaming journalist, Nathan Grayson, who talks about crunch culture in gaming.

Glad you're here on CodeNewbie Community, Andrew!

I’ve tried a lot of online platforms, but I finally found one that really stands out. Today, I want to talk about it, and the name of this platform is pin-up bet. After testing countless projects, I realized that this one offers an experience that’s different from the rest, especially when it comes to smartphone-based entertainment.

Playing games can serve as a bitlife great stress reliever. Immersing oneself in a fun or challenging virtual world provides a mental break from daily stresses, promoting relaxation and mental well-being.

I like games that don't take up too much of my time and don't require a lot of immersion in terms of learning the story, controls and all that. In this regard, such mini-games and indie projects as five nights at freddy's games, more about which here fnafgames.net/ , became an excellent choice. Plus, they're free, so anyone can play them.

It’s frustrating when games launch broken, especially on next-gen consoles. Hopefully, like No Man’s Sky, improvements will come. Meanwhile, exploring other titles through trusted full pc games platforms can offer smoother gameplay and fewer issues while waiting for updates.

This was a fantastic breakdown, Andrew. Cyberpunk 2077's launch really does feel like a cautionary tale for developers—ambition is essential, but without proper planning, testing, and transparency, it can backfire dramatically. Your point about keeping expectations realistic especially resonated. Overhype has hurt many promising titles, and it’s something devs and marketing teams alike need to manage better.

It’s also a good reminder of how experienced studios like Rockstar have set a benchmark by slowly building their technology and processes over the years—GTA San Andreas is a great example of how even older-gen games can deliver immersive, stable experiences when properly optimized.

the game was almost completely broken on all platforms.

Sorry for the rough language, but that's... bullshit. Apart from a couple glitches, it ran very well on PC.

You misunderstood what I said. In my post I said They also ONLY showed footage of the superior PC version so it was not clear how broken the last gen versions were. I acknowledged that the PC version got more love which is why it has higher reviews. Also many console players review bombed the PC version because they were upset at how their version turned out.
