Happy Pride Month! Here's How We're Celebrating as a Community 🌈

A very happy LGBTQIA+ Pride Month from all of us at CodeNewbie Community!

Here at CodeNewbie Community, we consider the active and vocal inclusion of every member and their complete identity to be our most important job.

As you likely know, many countries around the world recognize June as LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, +) Pride Month. While this annual commemoration of the Stonewall uprising is celebrated in a variety of ways from public parades to personal reflection, the common theme is to shed light on the human right to freedom and to celebrate all sexual orientations outside the bounds of heterosexual monogamy.

This year, CodeNewbie Community is excited to join the #devpride celebration on dev.to, which encourages LGBTQIA+ community members and their allies to publish Pride-themed stories (in whatever form that takes).
For every post published in June, DEV is donating $10 to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute.

CodeNewbie is extending this donation drive to include anyone who cross-publishes their post to CodeNewbie Community or to anyone who publishes an original post here on CodeNewbie Community tagged with #devpride

About Marsha P. Johnson and the MPJ Institute

Marsha P. Johnson (1945–1992) was an important Black transgender activist, self-identified drag queen, and one of the key leaders of the Stonewall uprising.

In their own words, The Marsha P. Johnson Institute exists to "elevate, support, and nourish the voices of BLACK trans people" and "seeks to eradicate systemic, community, and physical violence that silences our community from actualizing freedom, joy, and safety."
