Welcome everybody to the CodeNewbie Community!

Person saying "hey" as the word appears over their head. There is a purple background and the words appear over their head stylized like a comic or pop art. It has a very 90's aesthetic!

  1. Leave a comment below to introduce yourself! You can talk about what brought you here, what you're learning, or just a fun fact about yourself.

  2. Make some new friends by responding to another newbie's comment 👋 Feel free to follow one another, too!

P.S. If you have a technical question, you've come to the right place! Use the #help tag in a new post to ask the community for assistance with writing your first line of code, picking a tool to use for a particular project, or anything else. No question is too basic.

Yeah it is great stuff! I will 100% miss the free coffee if my career takes me elsewhere haha

Durham is great! Been here five years now and it has really started to feel like home. Are you from NC originally?

Haha, I bet you will! Free coffee from Counter Culture is a pretty sweet perk, haha.

I am indeed from NC originally... I'm from a small town north of Durham called Henderson (not Hendersonville which is toward the mountains). Not sure if ya would've heard of it or not... it's not much of a destination, haha, but I have many great memories (and still some great friends) there. I actually remember going to the children's science museum in Durham growing up... that used to be one of my favorite places.

Whereabouts are you originally from, btw?

Can't say I've heard of it, and I can empathize with the small town struggles. I'm from a town called Shallowater in the Texas Panhandle. It's outside of Lubbock, if you know where that is. More or less the middle of nowhere haha

Is that the museum with the giant rocket out from? I've been there a few times and it's a ton of fun even as an adult!

Just realized I never hit ya back!

It's the Durham Museum of Life and Science here and yes, it does have a big rocket ship outside of it! I had forgotten all about that fact... as a kid I was always nuts over the massive tree house and jungle gym around behind the museum. There was also a really big maze across the street from it that I think was dinosaur themed. Honestly, my memory is a bit fuzzy and I'm sure these places have changed since.

I don't know where Lubbock or Shallowater is, but I'm well familiar with the middle of nowhere, haha. Small town struggles indeed... I'm pretty much back in a small town now, but nearby bigger towns. I really dig Pittsboro, it's a nice spot!

Sounds like they still have a lot of the same stuff actually! We went there with my brother's family this last summer and they still had the big jungle gym/tree house out back.

I've heard good things about Pittsboro actually! I've got a coworker who lives there and he seems to really enjoy it.

Hey beautiful techies. I am here to learn more and build a career in Web Development.
I have a cordial relationship of HTML and CSS. But Javascript is still being toxic.
I am advancing to learning ReactJS, and hopefully woo her to stick with me.

I’m hoping to get the opportunity to collaborate on Junior Developer Projects. And Intern for Someone or a company. I just need this to boost my confidence and learn the everyday work life of a Developer

Hello wonderful people! It was to my surprise and pleasure to discover this elusive sanctuary of newbies.

I too am a newbie hoping to build a fruitful career in web development. I am feeling decently competent in my HTML/CSS. I have been working hard to learn Javascript as well, currently having a great time with fetch API aps.

My main reason for being here is to network. To meet new people that together we can discuss our learning, and hopefully learn from each other. Happy to collaborate on projects too.
