Hi everyone,
I'm currently learning more about server hardware and keep coming across the term "1U server" when looking at rack-mounted systems. I understand it's related to the size, but I'm not entirely clear on what that means in practical terms.
- What exactly does "1U" stand for?
- How does a 1U server compare to other sizes like 2U, 4U, etc.?
- Are there specific advantages or disadvantages to using a 1U server versus larger ones?
- Do different U sizes impact performance, cooling, or expansion options?
I'm just trying to get a better grasp of what type might be best for a small business setup or home lab. Any insights would be really appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
