The PMP certification can lead to professional advancement even if your current work responsibilities don't require managing projects. It is commonly believed that you need to be a PM or at minimum, be involved with projects in some manner to be eligible to receive this PMP certification. You must be verified by a person responsible for the work or in the scope of the project in the event in a non-project scenario.
