Baby Steps

Being a codenewbie I didn't know how valuable learning alongside a live instructor with other people would be. I started off trying to learn how to code by myself because that's how most coders had to learn. I started by watching multiple different coding youtubers and I even bought a course. I would try to follow along with the courses and the youtuber but they would all go way too fast. They also would do tips and tricks that I had no idea how to do, and they didn't explain how to do it. I wanted to give up on coding, because I was just lost and frustrated. Then I started learning how to code with G{code} and I actually started to understand that material! I was able to focus on what I was being taught, rather than trying to play catch up with the instructor. ANDDDDD I could ask any question that came to mind as well as listen to other's questions that I didn't think ask. I know that coding is a lot of self-learning and looking up things on your own, but it's hard to look up information on something you have no idea about. I am grateful that G{code} is giving me the foundation to help navigate my way around coding. I know that I will be able to get further in my coding journey because of the lessons from the mentors and the advice from the other members in the cohort.

What an awesome insight! It's so valuable to discover our own preferred methods of learning. I've been relying on Udemy courses and written tutorials lately, but in the past I've done very well using textbooks.

That amazing! I wish I could use textbooks and tutorials, but my brain just won't function in that way.

I took some coding classes in college so it's partially due to being forced to learn that way, haha! I'm learning a lot more from video tutorials these days.
