Hey everyone! 👋
As a self-taught developer trying to apply what I’ve been learning, I recently completed a fun side project — a simple web app that helps users track Emirates ID status.
If you're not from the UAE: the Emirates ID is a government-issued ID card, and people often want to track the status of their application or renewal. I thought — why not turn this real-world need into a beginner-friendly full-stack project?
🧩 What I Used:
Frontend: HTML, CSS, and a bit of JavaScript
Backend: Node.js with Express
Logic: A mock API to simulate ID status responses (no official integration)
Validation: Input format checks for 15-digit Emirates IDs
💡 What I Learned:
Handling form data securely
Creating RESTful API endpoints
Working with mock data to simulate real services
UX thinking: keeping the design clean and mobile-friendly

That’s a great beginner project! You built a simple web app to help people track their Emirates ID status a real-world problem many face in the UAE. You used basic web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Node.js with Express, plus a mock API for the logic. It’s awesome that you focused on things like input validation and clean design. Projects like this show solid progress! Also, for something unrelated but helpful locally, check out Weed Delivery Halifax.
Love this project idea! As someone who recently went through the Emirates ID status tracking process, I can confirm how valuable a simple tool like this would be. The official UAE government portal is surprisingly efficient (no logins needed, instant results from home), but your app could add great features like status notifications or application timeline estimates.
Your tech stack choice is perfect for beginners too! If you ever want to expand it, consider adding:
For your mock API - are you simulating all status stages (processing/printed/dispatched)? Keep up the great work!
That's awesome—congratulations on building your first web app! Creating a tool to track Emirates ID is a genuinely useful idea, and it's great to see beginners tackling practical projects like this. Thanks for sharing your experience—it's inspiring and helpful for others just starting out. Keep up the great work, and I’m excited to see what you build next!
