Hey Code Newbies,
I have decided to do the 100 Days of Code challenge. π But first, I have a confession. π
I have tried and failed to complete the 100 Days of Code challenge on at least two separate occasions (maybe even three π ). At this point, I'm apprehensive about being able to see it through. Because of this, I have been going back and forth, agonizing over whether to try again.
I've come to realize that coding alone is... lonely, and it's just not an effective way for me to stay committed. I could really use the communal support and camaraderie that 100 Days of Code brings. And so, here I am, deciding to #DoItScared.
Deets
I will be tracking my daily progress on Twitter at anitabe404 and doing a weekly recap post here in the CodeNewbie Community.
Day 1οΈβ£ starts tomorrow. Please send me all of your good vibes!
Before I go
I'd love to know if you've ever tried 100 Days of Code.
β If yes: How did it work out? What did you learn from the experience?
β If no: What's keeping you on the sidelines?

Hi Anita! Thanks for sharing this post! Today I actually just set up a study group (in the form of a GitHub project board) because I personally started doing a "30 Days of Code" challenge today and thought I might as well invite anyone else doing something similar.
If you're interested, please join! It'd be cool to be study buddies in this next 30 or 100-day sprint. And I also like the idea of formally posting something at the end of every day detailing what I actually did that day. I find it helps me organize my thoughts and is also a useful resource for others as well.

Hopefully see you onboard! πββοΈπ
I'll definitely check it out. I am all for having study buddies. Also, thank you for reading & commenting on my post. It made my day. π
Hi Anita,
I saw that you are part of Rob (r002) study group, cool.
I also saw that you are learning Python, again, cool. ;)
I have used R quite a bit and now want to transition to Python and Django.
I'd love to swap notes with you sometime.
Cheers,
Matt
Hi Matt,
Thanks. Are you joining our study group?
(Spoiler Alert: It's a lot of fun and great motivation, lol)
Yes, I'm working my way through the Python for Everybody specialization on Coursera. The past two weeks though, I've been brushing up on HTML/CSS for a side project that I'm working on.
But yes, I'd love to share notes, although I suspect you are coming to it with a lot more programming experience than me. I'll follow you and then we should be able to send each other messages.
Regards,
Anita
Yea, I think I will.
Is it now? lol
I am a little unsure about Robert's github issue template idea. What are you doing?
I have been working on a couple of free Django books. If you interested I can send the links.
What are your plans?
Do you time to google chat some time this week for 15 minutes?
Cheers,
Matt
Our study group is asynchronous, and I guess it's less of a study group and more a place to document what you're working on and get encouragement. We comment on each other's progress and share whatever resources we think will be helpful.
Robert would have to explain to you why he chose the template he did and all the philosophy behind it. If you do want to share your progress, you just go to the page and click "New Issue". From there it's pretty straightforward, you just fill out the pre-defined sections.
When it comes to Python, I am a complete newb. I'm just getting started. I've never looked into Django, so yes, I'm interested in the links you have.
As for my plans: I haven't committed to a framework yet. I am going through the Foundations path of The Odin Project. I'm in an exploratory mode with web dev at this point, so you'll have to excuse me for not having the most concrete of goals/plans.
I'm up for a Google chat. I'll message you.

Hey Anita!
I'm currently on Day 45 of 100 Days. I don't always remember to tweet my update and sometimes I miss a day coding, but what is more important to me is that I keep going. What matters more is it that I'm learning and growing. π
Good luck on your journey! πΈπΈπΈ

Hi Anita. I'm trying the 100 Days of code for the 2nd time. So your not alone with failing . Its hard if you have an all ready busy life. I will succeed and I'm sure you will. Good luck
Hey Jeremy,
Thank you for reading and replying. Yes, life really does get in the way sometimes. And when it's not life, it's low motivation or getting overwhelmed/frustrated (at least for me). I have hope that both of us will push through this time. π€πΎ
