[#CNC2022 "Get a Job" Cohort 1] Tell us how your professional outreach went!

This thread is for participants in Cohort 1 of #CNC2022's "Get a Job" Challenge.

Mission 2 pt. II Discussion Thread

After you've completed the reading and exercises in your Mission 2 pt. II email (to be sent on Thursday, February 10)...

1. Tell us about your experience reaching out to five possible contacts.
2. Were you nervous to reach out?

3. Have you heard back from anyone yet?

Once you're done, scan through the comments and find 1-2 other people and leave them a comment. If you shared similar feelings, tell them!

Congrats on challenging yourself to Get a Job! If you have any questions about the challenge overall, head to the Get a Job Help Thread. For any technical questions throughout the challenge (or in general) write a #help post on CodeNewbie Community or DEV and share with the community!

This one is tough folks. Anyone having any success? I'm trying to figure out the right kind of people to reach out to; let alone finding them at the companies I am interested in. Do I need to be less conscientious and just cold message random people? I knew this was going to be a hard for me, but wow.

Got 5+ messages sent out over the last week and a half. No responses yet.

I am nervous and hesitant in reaching out to my connections. I am yet hear back from them, also waiting to send my message out to couple of them. How is everyone else feeling?

I got a few message sent out in a moment of 'here goes nothing'. I'm feeling somewhere between "good" and "letting myself go into the flow of the universe and letting it do what it will". I think contacting people like this is going to be one of those skills that is going to super useful long term, but is just really hard to embrace in the short term. Good luck Snehal!

Good luck to you too.
I agree it's a good skill to have and I am glad this exercise provided us with steps on how to do this. Thank you for such positive attitude. I am going to keep trying and see if I can connect with anyone.
