Hello everyone, my name is Douglas and I have used Windows based computers since 1985 and computers since 1970. I have very little experience with or knowledge of coding, but recently I've become motivated to learn. I will greatly appreciate any guidance along the way.
Happy to find another "old-timer" on here. I've been using all sorts of computers since 1981, have done a little bit of coding along the way, am studying computer science now. Here I'm looking for guidance, inspiration, motivation and of course learning buddies.
Hello, Everyone, too
Like Douglas and KK's ABC, I'm an oldtimer, almost a fossil. But, I've loved learning all my life, and I want to keep learning. I love geography, both human and physical, and I'd love to be able to learn programming for geographical information systems applications like QGIS and ArcGIS in order to help non-profits and community groups to develop their own mapping and spatial analysis tools so that they can better understand what's going on where they live and what they might be able to do about it. Oh, and educational games. I'd like to try to learn how to make them, too. That's it!
Hi everyone, my name is Vivi and I'm a (recent) jr software engineer, I'm here looking to improve my skills, learn new things and meet new people. I love tv shows, pop culture and books.

Good to meet you, Vivi. My name is Gilbert from Kenya I am currently learning HTML, CSS, and Java, with the aspiration to become learn React and be someone like you in my near future. I would be grateful if you will give me a hand on my journey toward archiving my goals. I would like to master the overall steps I need to follow to get through it.
Hi everyone, my name is Ujjwal and I am a flutter developer. I came to know about codeland 2021 through a post on DEV. This is the first time I am joining any online event. Looking forward to learn new things and join the awesome community.
Hi, Ujjwal. Is Flutter fun?
Yes.
yes
What is flutter?
Hello guys, I'm Jecinta, from Nigeria. I'm an absolute newbie, but my love for Python is unweighable (LOL...if that's an actual word). I knew about this community just few minutes ago when surfing through the net about cybersecurity and hacking. Also, website designing, development, and data science sounds fun.......one of the things i love. I hope to learn a lot from y'all and become a pro in a year time.
I Jacinta. i am happy to meet another python beginner. I am gilbert from Kenya and I am interested in learning several programing languages but i would love to begin with python. Currently, I have little knowledge on Html and CSS but I am aiming at improving my skills on this fields too.
Nice to meet you Gilbert. 🙌
welcome Jacinta...
Welcome to the community!
Thank you :)
Hi y'all I'm a new dev from Lexington, KY who's currently trying to get the hang of vanilla JS before moving on to frameworks. I'm feeling pretty competent with HTML and CSS. recently I've just been hacking together little JS projects trying to learn more. Recently made a random CSS gradient generator (read about it on my profile) and I also made a little score keeper app, and am trying to get a number guessing game working but running into issues. Hope you're all well!
Hello peeps, my name is Alex and I'm a soon to be graduate full-stack web developer. I learned about CodeLand 2021 by accident, surfing the internet, and I couldn't be happier about it. I'm here to learn from people that share the same passion. I love lifting weights, running marathons and listening to scientific podcasts. Cheers!
Runner here as well!! Curious what podcasts you listen to.
My most listened to are Huberman Lab and Lex Fridman Podcast. It's crazy that the information we've access to through these podcasts is free still, I'm truly grateful for that.
It really is! I'm always looking for new things to listen to on my commute to work.
I'm Pola from Poland (I know it sounds like terrible pun). I'm newb to programming and still learning. HTML/CSS/JS are currently I look into. I have no formal education and learn from free resources that I find on the net. But I feel I need to get involved in some project to get it move and learn better.
Hey wish to be friends because I've started learning HTML and CSs
Same here brother
That’s some good pun there😁...which free resources do you use? cause i use freecodecamp, no formal education too and currently learning CSS after completing the HTML basics.
Would be awesome to connect with you.
Heyo everyone! I'm a full-stack software engineer, currently working as a teaching assistant for the bootcamp that I graduated from. I'm passionate about programming and helping others explore their passion and build awesome things. I'm also an amateur astronomer and love bridging the gap between my programming skills and my astronomy skills. I'm also a co-creator of a pretty neat "escape-room"-esque web-game. Feel free to give it a try here: escapegim.com. Can you help free the ghost in the machine?
Hi Julianne! I'm so interested about programming and astronomy! I would love to connect if you don't mind.
By the way, I think the link is sending to a wrong URL...Am I not supposed to be directed to a some kind of a game page with that link?
Hey @cledbuxandcodes! Yes, astronomy and programming is such a fun combo! I'm currently learning robotics programming so that I can build a GOTO controller for my personal telescope. It'll be really fun!
We can totally connect, though! You can add me on LinkedIn if you want: linkedin.com/in/juliannevela
As far as the link, that's the correct page. It's intentionally deceptively corporate. :)
Poor, poor you-know-who. What a way to die. Ick. But, I did have some problems, myself. Some of the reveals were overlaid with the original content of the field, and I couldn't really read the reveal very well, or at all. So, needs work. Oh, I used both Firefox and Chrome to check it out. Had the same problems with both. Otherwise, good effort! JT
I know! Poor guy! As far as the puzzles go, they are intended to be skewed and hidden to make them more difficult to find. That said, if there were any that were totally obscured or not visible for some reason, please let me know and I can take a look to fix them! :) Thanks for playing! Glad you had fun, albeit with some apparent issues.

I want to make friends who will contribute to my growth and I contribute to theirs as well .

I currently live in Florida. I try to get my husband to move to Australia all the time!!! 😂
Hey folks! I've been writing code since the 1970s. :-)
I ran across the Code Newbie podcast recently and love it. I'm a mentor at Holberton Puerto Rico, a coding school in San Juan Puerto Rico.
I'm interested in teaching coding to as many people as possible. Coding changed my life and I want to help others down that path. I spent 20 years in Silicon Valley and even wrote a book about it. I moved to Puerto Rico 6 years ago and have been involved in the tech ecosystem in Puerto Rico.
Lately I'm learning Vue and VuePress. I'm working on an Augmented Reality project using AR.js.
Hi, Adam
Did you ever meet anyone from Eastside Prep (East Palo Alto) when you lived in the Valley? They have a lot of kids who could benefit from a coding mentor who also speaks Spanish. If you're interested, I could try to hook you up. JT
Hey John, great idea. I don't speak Spanish that well, but all our students at Holberton Puerto Rico do!
Hi everyone ! I'm Thomas from France, I'm a maintly front-end web developer. I contribute sometimes to Open Source codes like Forem or web monetization.

Hi folks, I'm Pius. I arrange banknotes in my wallet by size, but I love indie music. Is that a contradiction? Anyway, I'm new in software development but did some statistical programming before. Hope to have a good time and learn something here. Let`s get it on.
Hi, Pius. I also arrange banknotes in my wallet by denomination. In the USA, all banknotes are the same size and color. If you can't see the numbers on them, you will have difficulties in life. Many difficulties. I also like music, all kinds. So, there's that. But, I'm old. Very, very old. That may, or may not, explain many things.
Hi everyone,
Hi my name is Dejan, and i was started to learning programing since august last year. My first learning approach was watching tutorials about mainly frontend programing ( HTML, CSS and JS ) from which I didn't acquired much knowledge. Searching to escape from tutorial hell I found Frontend mentor. On that site, I gained routine and a lot of knowledge through practice. Since I am confident in my knowledge so far, my next goal is to find a job, and I think that working on open source projects would increase employability. I will gladly accept any criticism, advice, etc.
Welcome!
Hi everyone! I'm a former teacher turned full-stack JavaScript software engineer from Las Vegas, NV. I'm looking forward to learning more about the tech industry and make great connections at CodeLand2021!
Hi all,
I'm Zak Lehmann, I have been dabbling in code for a long time but finished a bootcamp a year or two ago and am really buckling down to try and transition out of the environmental sector and into tech (or maybe ideally into a dev position still in the environmental sector)!

Hello everyone! I am currently working on an associate's degree in Computer Science & Mathematics, and I hope to attain a doctorate. I have used computers ever since I was a small toddler, and I have been on and off with coding since I was about 10, but I never got anywhere with it. Now that I am an adult, I want to learn everything I can about computers, and that includes learning how to program! I love FOSS technology, and I use it all the time, so I want to develop for those technologies.

Hi all, my name is Tim and I am hobbyist/generalist developer looking to take my first steps into the professional tech world. I have been building simple HTML/CSS websites since 2000, (and even built and maintained a few websites for local musicians when I was a teenager between 02-06) but never took it seriously as a career. I have worked as a woodworker/furniture maker for the last 10 years, but became interested in programming through musical/creative coding applications a few years ago. Turns out I like to code!
I started the Odin Project bootcamp in September '21, set it aside for a few months because of life, but have recently picked it back up and am now working on the final project of the Ruby on Rails path.
My passion is towards sound/acoustics/DSP (have lots to learn before I feel truly comfortable in that space), but I have enjoyed learning and working in Rust and C towards that end.
Hey everyone! My name is Brandon.
I used to teach high school comp sci and mathematics for about 5 years here in NYC. I left my job about a year and a half ago to pursue a career in Software Development.
I've been learning web development using React and Flask. More recently, I've been learning Android development using Kotlin, also Flutter and Dart.
Currently, I'm just working on projects to build up my portfolio to apply for jobs in the near future.
Since I left my job, I've been learning on my own so I'm looking forward to being part of a community and meet some new people!

Greetings to all, I'm Randy and I've been messing with computers since 1982. My first computer was a Commodore 64, aka C64. My next pc was an IBM Model 5150, which was based on a 4.77 MHz Intel 8088 microprocessor and used Microsoft´s MS-DOS operating system. Even though I've been using computers for a while, I'm only recently entering the programming arena. I look forward to learning a great deal with the helpful folks of the CodeNewbie Community.

Hello. my name is Maxim. I am 4 years old. I am from Russia, I live in a village, I am a lawyer by education, I have three children. Three daughters Dreamed of becoming a programmer, so this is a very interesting profession. But it didn't work out. Now, thanks to this program, I hope to become a programmer. I think this profession will help me earn a decent living so that I can help my children. Our incomes in the village are small and there is little work. The possibility of a programmer is limitless since I will be able to work remotely wherever I want
Hello All,
I too, am starting at an older period of my life and very new to coding. I was in tech support (the basics really) and hoping to get the most out of CodeNewbie and meet some great people along the way.

I've done some projects already. Some of them were team based. I am here to improve and refresh my coding skills. I would like to say hello to everybody and wish you good luck and to get your goals done.
Hello all! I'm Martin, usually nicknamed "The Wacky" (only by myself, no one else calls me this, but I digress). I love playing with such a big reptile that is Python, and make tiny web projects, although I'm currently pondering a massive one. Interestingly, I got myself here via the #CNC2022 page. At first, I thought I was lost, but I am quite alright around these endpoints
Hi Everyone 👋,
Cledb ( K.L.E.B.) here. A newbie coder here and I'm glad to meet you all!
I'm a career transitioner from the nursing field - went on to UX design.
Prior to that I tinkered a bit on html and css and some python but then I had enrolled in a 3 months program UX design so concentrated on that. Did a bit of freelancing right after, and again my curiosity with coding came back, and now here I am paying attention to that and I'm so loving it.
I'm here to connect with like-minded people to keep the momentum going and hopefully to be of value to others in the same journey in any way. As an introvert, networking is way way out of my comfort zone and this is another way I can create some sort of accoutability and help me push past through this "networking avoidance" habit I have :).
Currently learning web development ( HTML, CSS, JS, MongoDB, Node & ExpressJS)
Good morning everyone (at least for me), I'm Kevin a Sr. TAM at Amazon. I've been in the industry for about 15 years, I started out as a Linux Engineer/Admin and have since moved into the Infrastructure as Code arena. Year in, year out I keep telling myself I'm going to actually upgrade my skills from scripting to actual code, year in, year out I don't. Maybe this time it'll actually stick.

Hey Guys, my name is Tahir. I'm an email templates developer.
Have been trying to get into Frontend Development and looking forward to learning React this year (hopefully). I'm not a complete beginner to Javascript and have recently taken part in a 24 days challenge by Scrimba. You can find my entries on my Twitter (twitter.com/tahir__k).
I do lack motivation, consistency. I have been struggling with imposter syndrome but after taking part in scrimba's 24 days challenge I do feel more confident.
I don't have anyone in this field from my friends/family circle. I would love to have some coding buddies as this does makes a big difference.
Hello Everyone,
I'm Arung from Semarang Indonesia. I just love computer and coding too much, that I always consider myself a newbie. Recently just got a chance to hold a bit deeper on Python. Would love to learn more and contribute to the community.
Ayyyyyy I'm Ryan. Always been rather good with computers and tech in general but have absolutely no knowledge on coding and super excited and motivated to figure it all out, hopefully with some help along the way! Just signed up for Thinkful and currently doing the "Prep Course for Engineering Immersion" so if anyone has any experience with that feel free to chime in! ;-)

Hello everyone! My name is Kingsley from Nigeria. Always been intrigued about websites and applications, but been scared to learn how to code.
Well, 11-12-21 i gave coding a shot cause I believe the things we regret in life are the things we never attempted cause of fear. So far so good, I’ve completed HTML basics and moving forward to CSS. Found this amazing forum while surfing the web, and it would be amazing to network and learn from y’all. We’re one DM away from becoming coding pals lol😁
Hi everyone, noe is here. I'm a self taught developer, so exciting about codeNewbie, you're free to ask and discuss anything. Oh I'm a web dev btw, used to work with flutter for mobile dev but learning next.js for a while.
Hi, my name is Carlos, recently started learning HTML/CSS and a little php and designed and developed ridgefieldhistoricalsociety.org with a little coding help. I need to set myself up to develop more seriously - I did that website "by the seat of my pants" and don't have a proper Git workflow setup which makes me very nervous!!
I'd like to get good enough at coding to build apps that help co-operatives with participatory management to encourage transparency and democratic decision making.
Hello everyone, my name is Mayor. I'm excited to be here. I'm new to coding and presently rounding up a three month node.js course. The course merely introduced me to the basics. At this time, I'm trying to figure out what to do next, hence my reason for joining this forum. Please, if you are an experienced developer who wants a mentee, please hit me up.I'm in serious need of a mentor now. Thanks
Hi everyone. I'm a coding beginner with a project to complete. I previously created an app in Zoho Creator that took transaction data input of google sheets data and outputted bookkeeping data that I could then run reports from.
Zoho is too expensive for me now, so I would like to try and use App Scripts (javascripts language, I think). to re-write the functionality into Google Sheets.
It would be great to have a community to chat to along the way to share my thrills of progress and frustrations of stuckness :-)
