Hello everyone! New here but have been subscribed to CodeNewbie's podcast for quite some time and have only been experienced with the world of coding/technology these past three years. I've never really put into consideration as to how technology "is" and "was" made. I've really been struggling to push myself to get involved and looking for a community to push past those boundaries. I understand that it will take discipline on my part to do so and I hope that being around with you all will motivate me to stay focused! But overall enjoy and grow with you all of this conquest of coding :)
Hello everyone! My name is Blake! I have a background in automotive manufacturing, working for a steel stamping manufacturer for the past 12 years. I've worked my way up through the company from a simple machine operator, to now being the Assistant Manager for Quality Control & Engineering for the past 3 years. It's a great company to work for, but I'm afraid I will never be compensated what I feel I'm worth. Originally back in 2007 I was supposed to go to college (wright state university) for computer science, but due to the recession and overall poor economics, I was unable to procure funding. I've regretted that for years, and I feel like I'm missing out on my true calling by not being part of the tech community.
I made a decision to get into coding, and I have been following freecodecamp and codecademy for about a month now. I worked my way through the 'responsive web development' course on freecodecamp then moved over to codecademy for JavaScript.
So far, I've completed a few very small projects from FCC, and strictly HTML/CSS. But I feel like I'm getting to the point where I want to make a project using all 3 (HTML/CSS/JS).
I started rooting around on reddit and discord, and found codenewbie when I was listening to the audible version of 'The Pragmatic Programmer: 2nd Edition'. And that's what brings me here today.
I hope to learn more about what it means to be a developer, and meet some like minded individuals along the way. Feel free to shoot me a message and we can connect!

Hey you awesome people! Welcome to CodeNewbie Community!
Hello! New member here. I am Shaina and I am currently learning the basics still like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. But I'm focusing more on JavaScript. I hope to learn React next and I am also in college for my Associate degree in Computer Studies. Please give me tips on how to start a portfolio! I'd very much appreciate it. :)
