Welcome Thread - V55

Welcome everybody to the CodeNewbie Community!

Heads up that this is our final welcome thread for the CodeNewbie Community. We are transitioning this community to DEV and have created a CodeNewbie org that we'd encourage you to follow for beginner-friendly content, discussions, and more. We also recommend following the #beginners & #codenewbie tags. And of course, don't forgot to hop into the welcome thread there to introduce yourself and meet new folks.

Hope to see you all on DEV! 👋

Hello everyone! I wanted to develop a website on my own so I started exploring. Now I'm trying to learn basic HTML and CSS from YouTube tutorials and articles. I'm also using Replit on my phone to code as I don't have a computer (it's broken). So it would be helpful to know if I can really learn through the Android app or should get a computer.

Hi everyone! I'm Willy lover of motorcycles, golf, traveling, and I have a deep appreciation for amazing applications as I know that there's a huge amount of love and attention to detail that goes into the underlying code. I recently started to learn to code and I'm currently taking the CS50 course that Harvard offers with David J. Malan! I actually stumbled upon this podcast when I asked ChatGPT to recommend some good ones for newbies like myself. Hoping to learn from the community and would appreciate if people have suggestions for mentors/tutors!

Hello nerds! I am Ced. I do web development, front-end coaching and I stream coding-related content on Twitch.

I specialise in web apps development with VueJS and I am currently practicing using NuxtJS on my personal projects.

On stream, I code (with half of my brain power left 😆) and get trolled by viewers sometimes. 🤣 It has been fun and has brought me much since I started.

I would be happy to help some of you here on the platform. I made the mistake of being too shy and not seek help when I started learning programming. I hope my contribution can help make this part of the journey more pleasant for you.

See you soon nerds! 🤓

Hey everyone! I’m Madison, but most people call me Maddy.
I’ve been programming for about a year now, after deciding to make a career change and I fell in love with it. So far, I’ve completed Python for Everybody and Python 3 Specializations from the University of Michigan, worked through most of CS50’s Introduction to Python, and taken a few intro courses in SQL. Right now, I’m diving into the Applied Data Science with Python Specialization (also from UM), along with some beginner courses in Ethical Hacking.
I’m learning entirely through free or low cost online courses and my own research, so I’m pretty much self taught. I love every second of it but as I’m sure some of you can relate, it can feel a bit isolating when you don’t know anyone else in tech or programming. That’s why I’m here, to connect, learn, and build relationships with others who share this passion.
I’m especially interested in Data Science using Python and SQL, since that’s where most of my experience is right now. But I’m still exploring and trying to narrow down my long term path. I’d love any advice, insights, or just good conversation and I’m more than happy to contribute however I can to this community.
Looking forward to learning and growing with you all!
