This series is a project inspired by @dickiebush’s "Ship 30 for 30” Atomic Essays. Which, I commit to spend 30 minutes a day for 30 days straight to write a short essay about software development tools that I love. My goal is to build my daily writing habit and connect to more people. Check out #ship30for30 on Twitter.

I’m developing skills in programming. It’s what I enjoy practicing both in class and outside of class. Being a student and a beginner in the field, I am, like most others, intimidated by the amount of stuff we have to learn and how fast technology changes. A lot of times I don’t know the answers and am not sure if the direction I’m heading to is right or wrong. The way I choose to navigate myself is to listen to CodeNewbie.

CodeNewbie is a podcast that shares the coding journey of people in the technology field, both in the corporate and entrepreneurial world, in hopes of helping coding beginners discover themselves and bring their own best into the field.

I listen to CodeNewbie every morning. I learned that some dude works with GitHub while living as a nomad in Europe, with lots of freedom and flexibility. I heard about Quincy Larson, the freeCodeCamp founder and his inspiration to build the community of coding education and deliver free lessons to people. Hundreds of stories with solid motivation.

Those journeys enlighten and assure that skills in this field can be applied to anything I could think of. The possibility is endless.

One thing that makes me like CodeNewbie a lot is the host, Saron.

Her voice is unique, calm, and soothing. She gives me the impression that programming is approachable and practical enough for everybody to start doing right away.

Listening to the podcast fuels me to keep practicing, testing my processes, and learning from mistakes.
